Note: These instructions require a Private ID and password to connect. Students receive wireless access automatically through student fees; Faculty and Staff must first contact Telecommunication Services at 417-836-4765 to get their account setup for wireless access.
The status of all wireless locations are listed on the Missouri State Networking Wireless page.
Access 40 is the recommended wireless solution for Missouri State University. It offers the highest level of security available on any MSU wireless network, and offers support for many hardware and software combinations, including Mac systems running OS/X Leopard and Windows Vista SP1. Windows XP cannot connect to Access 40 with the default Windows client, but machines with Intel brand wireless adapters can download Intel PROset, which will make it possible to connect Windows XP to Access 40.
Access 30 is the next level in the effort to provide the campus community with a more secure option for wireless. Most computers, with a wireless device installed, should be able to connect to the network wirelessly with Access 30. Just choose your system type and then follow the instructions or walk into any one of our Computer Services Open Computer Labs for assistance.
Access 20 offers the least amount of wireless security, but this network is compatible with almost any wireless device. Access 20 is the only wireless network which will work with versions of Microsoft Vista prior to the release of Service Pack 1. Vista devices with the SP1 update (which can be downloaded through Windows Updates) can easily connect to Access 20, Access 30, or Access 40.
The Guest wireless network is a service of the University designed to provide web access for visitors to our campus. Approved guests of the University can request Guest wireless access by contacting Telecommunications Services at (417) 836-4765.
