Using Missouri State Resources
If you are using a Windows-based computer, you can only access
campus resources using Windows 2000, XP or Vista. Once you have connected
to the University using with VPN, you have access to any network resource
as you would on campus. Just click on the Start button and then
Run. In the Run Open dialog box command, type the appropriate
name of the desired resource. The following examples
demonstrate how to access Magenta and Bear1 resources:
To access Magenta type:
\\magenta.missouristate.edu
To access Bear1 type: \\bear1.missouristate.edu
Hint: Follow this example to access other campus resources to which you have access.
Using other Dialup Internet Providers
It is not recommended that you try to access campus resources using dialup from other vendors, because this would require the use of VPN software. which is extremely slow when used over a dialup connection. An alternative to this is to set up a Missouri State dialup connection which does not require the use of VPN software. (reminder: you can only access campus resources with Windows 2000, XP, Vista or Mac OS.)
