Your relationship with Missouri State University and the department who controls the resource and your personal usage needs will determine what other resources are available to you.
Faculty and staff members employed by Missouri State University are eligible to acquire and maintain a Missouri State Active Directory Account. Faculty and staff members can receive accounts by presenting their ZipCard™ at the Cheek Hall 164 distribution window.

Students registered for classes in the current or following semester may obtain a Missouri State Active Directory Account by:
A person who is not a Missouri State University student or employee but who has a legitimate need for computer access may be granted a guest account. Due to licensing restrictions, the Director of Computer Services must approve any requests for guest accounts. Requests for this permission should be sent to the Computer Services Help Desk.

Emeritus staff members are listed in the Directory and are entitled to a Missouri State University Active Directory Account. Emeritus personnel receive accounts by presenting their ZipCard™ at the Cheek Hall 164 distribution window.

Accounts are deactivated six weeks into the next major semester (Spring/Fall) in which a person is no longer affiliated with Missouri State University. Two weeks before account deactivation is scheduled to take place, an email notification is sent to all accounts scheduled for removal at that time. If you receive this email and feel it is in error please send an email to the Computer Services Help Desk.
The My.MissouriState.edu portal is accessed using your Missouri State University Active Directory Account, mentioned above. This is the same account used to log onto computers on the Missouri State University campus, as well as into your email. To login, use your PrivateID and password, similar to the example shown on the portal login screen.
You must have an active Missouri State Active Directory Account before you can receive a Blackboard account. Blackboard accounts are generated Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m. Accounts are generated within 1-2 hours during the first 3 weeks of the semester and within 2-4 hours during the rest of the semester.
Your Blackboard Login ID is the same as your Missouri State Active Directory Account PrivateID. To set your Blackboard password:

I-Series accounts are used by those Faculty and Staff that require access to the I-Series in the performance of their normal duties. If you are uncertain about whether or not you need an I-Series account, speak with your supervisor.
Your supervisor must send and email to Computer Services Operations to start the account creation process. After this request has been processed, you will be contacted by Computer Services; present your ZipCard™ at the Cheek 164 distribution window to receive your I-Series Account ID and temporary password.

Your Self-Service Banner (SSB) Account is used to log into Self-Service Banner (SSB) and consists of your M-Number and Self-Service Banner (SSB) PIN. Your M-Number is a 9 character identifier that begins with an uppercase 'M' and is followed by eight numeric characters. The M-Number replaces Social Security Number as the unique identifier for individuals in Missouri State University's online systems. Your Self-Service Banner (SSB) PIN is a six digit number that replaces the existing Missouri State University PIN. Self-Service Banner (SSB) PINs will expire every 120 days.
Your Internet Native Banner (INB) Account is used to login to Internet Native Banner (INB) and consists of your Banner Password and Banner ID. Your Banner ID is formed using the first letter of your first name and your entire last name; i.e., Jane Smith's Banner ID is jsmith. Your Banner Password must meet Missouri State University's Password Complexity Requirements.
Computer Services provides storage space on a network file server for Faculty and Staff that have need for collaborating on the same documents. The files in these departmental folders are backed up daily to prevent data loss due to hard drive or equipment failure. This storage location is commonly referred to as "Bear One". Requests for "Bear One" folder creation or modification can be sent to the Computer Services Help Desk.
A fixed amount of personal file storage is available for students; personal file storage is not viewable over a web browser. Files may be uploaded and downloaded from anywhere in the world via a web browser that supports FTP (such as Internet Explorer 7)or any FTP client using your PrivateID and password.
Students should visit the Computer Account Management System to request a personal storage folder.
