Internet Access Temporarily Down

Due to a power outage in part of Blair-Shannon, some telecommunication services were interrupted, including Internet access and phone service. While phone service was restored fairly quickly, access to the Internet from on-campus was down for a more extended period. It currently appears to be functioning, but we may encounter further interruptions in the near term.

Users attempting to connect to campus websites and services such as Bearmail or the VPN from outside may also encounter problems. Students may continue to access their Live@EDU email accounts, however if they are on campus they may find themselves temporarily without the necessary Internet access.

We will post an update here when we have received word that the issue is completely resolved.

Update at 5:30PM: A patch is in place that should provide Internet access and phone service until around 8PM. After 8PM, Internet and phone access will be unavailable until further repairs can be made. We are actively trying to resolve this problem as quickly as possible and will post updates here.

Update on 5.25.2011 at 7:00PM: The problem has been resolved and all Internet access and phone service should be functioning.

Java Cache Must Be Cleared For INB

The Banner system is now available following upgrades this weekend. If you are using Internet Native Banner (INB), though, you may need to clear your Java cache. This process is different from clearing the browser cache, and you can find instructions at http://www.java.com/en/download/help/plugin_cache.xml

Update:: Intermittent Login Issues Continue

Some services, including the Experts Documentation Wiki and Bearmail accessed through Outlook clients, continue to experience intermittent login problems and some users may not be be able to access these services. Computer Services is aware of this outage and is working to correct the issue. We will update here as soon as we have additional information.

Update at 10:30 am: Login issues for these services have been resolved. If you experience issues logging in to any service, please contact us as soon as possible.

Users may be unable to log into some services right now, such as the Experts Documentation Wiki and Bearmail (or Microsoft Outlook). Computer Services is aware of this outage and is working to correct the issue. We will update here as soon as we have additional information.

Update at 3:15 p.m.:: It appears that the login issues have been resolved. Bearmail, the wiki, and other services are now accessible and available.

Scheduled Down Time Saturday May 21

In order to provide the highest level of service to the campus community, the computing and networking systems maintained by Computer Services require occasional downtime. On Saturday, May 21, from 7:00AM until 5:00PM CDT, many University computer systems will be offline and unavailable for use. Some services may be available during part of the scheduled downtime, but service may be interrupted during this time period without notice. Departments and users are encouraged to plan accordingly and not to be dependent on the services during the scheduled outage.

Brief My Missouri State Interruption Wednesday Morning

My Missouri State will have a brief interruption of service on Wednesday, May 18 at 5:30 AM CDT.

Update:: Service restored to Experts Wiki and other services

Keystone, one of the database servers, is down due to hardware failure. This affects the Experts Documentation Wiki and various other services. We do not know when service will be restored, but will post updates as we have them.

Update (2:30pm May 15th 2011):: Keystone has been restored to a working state. We are taking precautionary measures in case we encounter another failure. If you encounter any problems, please feel free to contact the Help Desk at 417-836-5891.

Update:: Network restored in KGSX and FORA

Users may experience trouble accessing the campus network from the King’s Street Annex and Forsythe buildings at this time.

Computer Services Networking has determined that the network to these buildings will be down for an extended and unknown length of time.

Update (11am May 12th 2011):: Computer Services Networking has restored network access for King’s Street Annex only. Forsythe’s network is still down and is actively being worked on.

Update (12pm May 12th 2011):: Computer Services Networking has also restored network access for Forsythe, but in a temporary manner. It may be intermittent while Networking is still fixing the issue.

Update (4pm May 20th 2001):: Computer Services Networking has fully restored network access for Forsythe.

Blackboard 8 occasional login and timing out issues

Blackboard 8 is currently experiencing occasional log on and timing issues due to the current amount of use. Enterprise Systems is aware of this and is closely monitoring the system. Please feel free to contact the help desk if you are experiencing any problems.
